Gunung Kawi is one of the oldest religious place near Tampaksiring and located in Gianyar regency. It is about 15 km from Ubud. It happens to the largest ancient monuments of Bali.

The sign board of Gunung Kawi
It comprises 10 rock - cut shrines carved into the cliff. There are two consecutions, one of it is in east side Pekerisan River which consists of 5 units and another consecution at the westside of the river also has 5 units, north is 4 units and 1 unit is located in south side and separates from others.

To go to the temples you have to hike down a set of steps past a few more local vendors. The scenery is so green with rice fields. It leads down into a beautiful valley where the 10 rocks - cut shrines located. A small bridge takes you across the river to the pavilions. It is a peaceful place.
